Summer Study Abroad in Galway, Ireland

The CUNY group visited Galway, Ireland, between 2011 and 2018 to complete the 6 credit course at the University of Galway.  The study abroad program took place in An Cheathrú Rua, Conamara, Co. Galway, from mid-July to mid-August. Two students from the Lehman group were granted Gaeltacht Summer Awards funded by the Irish Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media supported by the Fulbright Commission in Ireland. These awards covered tuition, housing, and meals usually up to 2000 Euros and were only open to students who had completed 3 credits of Irish language study with a CUNY instructor. The deadline for the Gaeltacht Summer Awards was the end of February. All others wishing to travel to Galway, Ireland, with the CUNY group were required to apply by April 15th.

The Gaeltacht Summer Awards were generously funded by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media and the Irish National Lottery supported by the Ireland-United States Commission for Educational Exchange (Fulbright Commission) .
