Winter Session

Earn undergraduate credits on-line this January as you begin learning Irish.

Lehman College has been scheduling on-line intensive Irish language winter and summer courses for the past ten years. Visiting students from the following colleges have registered for undergraduate Irish language courses with Lehman College, CUNY, in the summer or winter sessions over the past decade:

Baruch College, Brooklyn College, City College of New York, College of the Holy Cross, Hunter College, Idaho State University, John Jay College of Criminal Justice, Iona College, Manhattan College, The New School, New York University, Our Lady of the Lake University, Smith College, Queens College, St. John’s University, SUNY Empire State College, Tufts University, and University of Florida.

Lehman College tuition rates are very reasonable. For an undergraduate 3-credit course, the tuition begins at $915 for matriculated New York State residents. New York State senior citizens can register through the ENCORE program for $80. The course will be 50% on Zoom, face-to-face, and 50% asynchronous, completed according to your own schedule. The Zoom session will take place Monday to Friday from 6pm to 7:25pm EST.  The courses includes Blackboard with hundreds of sound files made by Lehman instructors as well as videos. The textbook for the course has been especially designed for our program and includes hundreds of additional sound files recorded by native speakers in Co. Galway as part of our own curriculum development program. The textbook is available in Kindle or paperback versions and is widely available from on-line booksellers.

IRI 111 – Elementary Irish I (4 January 2020 to 25 January 2020 – 3 credits): – on-line – Ihde (Ó hÍde).

Please note that IRI 112 – Elementary Irish II will be offered immediately after the intensive winter session. The Spring semester dates are 29 January – 25 May 2021. It will also make use of Zoom meeting Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6pm to 7pm.
